The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2
Netflix treated fans to an exciting glimpse of the second part of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh (Nanatsu no Taizai: Ensa no Edinburgh) with the release of an English-subtitled trailer on Friday. This new two-part anime film series is based on Nakaba Suzuki’s immensely popular manga, The Seven Deadly Sins.
The first part of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh made its global debut on Netflix in December 2022. Yuuki Kaji returns to voice the iconic character Meliodas, while Mikako Komatsu and Ayumu Murase take on the roles of Meliodas’ son Tristan as a child and as a teenager, respectively.
Set fourteen years after the Kingdom of Liones’ triumph over the Demon Clan, peace reigns in the realm. However, Prince Tristan faces an internal struggle as he grapples with controlling two powerful forces within him: the Demon Clan power inherited from his father, Meliodas, the Dragon Sin of Wrath and former captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, and the Goddess Clan power inherited from his mother, Elizabeth. When Elizabeth’s life is endangered, Tristan seeks refuge in the kingdom of Edinburgh, where he encounters Deathpierce, a former member of the Holy Knights group Pleiades of the Azure Sky, residing in his castle. Yet, Tristan remains uncertain about Deathpierce’s true intentions.
Bob Shirahata directs the films, while Noriyuki Abe serves as the supervising director. Rintarou Ikeda skillfully pens the scripts, while Alfred Imageworks and Marvy Jack handle the animation, bringing the vivid world to life. Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano masterfully compose the music, setting the perfect tone for the thrilling tale. The theme song “Lemonade” for the first film is performed by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:XAI, adding to the film’s immersive experience.
