perimeter 2024 tv series review

Set in Atlanta during the 1990s, Perimeter features Tatyana Ali alongside newcomers Ava Mone’t and Donovan Christie Jr. The narrative revolves around the Dawn family: Paige (Mone’t), a sophomore at Spelman College whose life takes a detour when she falls for a rebellious character; her father, Councilman Robert Dawn (Christie), whose political aspirations towards mayoral office exact a profound personal and ethical toll; and his wife, Connie (Ali), who endeavors to maintain family unity. Their personal conflicts unfold amidst the vibrant cultural backdrop of two significant events in Atlanta: Freaknik and the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Tyler Perry serves as an executive producer of Perimeter, alongside Ortiz, who also pens the series. Asante White and Deance Wyatt join as producers. The ensemble cast includes Malcolm Xavier, Jalen Gilbert, Wes Montez, Jordan Coleman, Sharon Conley, Evan Gamble, and Shawn Vaughn.

Ortiz elaborates, “When pitching the show, we recognized that a single pilot episode wouldn’t suffice for the depth of our narrative. With the support of Tyler Perry and BET, we committed to producing the first four episodes of the series to provide audiences with a true taste of what to expect in Perimeter’s inaugural season.”
