No Way Up 2024 movie review

Is the idea of sharks on a plane too far-fetched for a movie premise? Hollywood doesn’t seem to think so, as evidenced by the suspense thriller “No Way Up.”

Starring Sophie Macintosh as Ava, a privileged college student en route to a holiday weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the film takes a dramatic turn when the plane encounters a serious problem and crashes into the sea. With only a handful of survivors, including Ava, left to fend off the threat of sharks, the plot unfolds in a simple yet gripping manner as they struggle to escape their aquatic predicament and reach the surface. Despite facing setbacks and constantly having to adapt their plans, the tension remains high throughout the film.

Adding to the cast’s appeal is veteran actor Colm Meaney, known for his roles in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” portraying Ava’s trusted confidant and bodyguard. Phyllis Logan of “Downton Abbey” fame also delivers a noteworthy performance as a grandmother embarking on a trip with her husband and granddaughter.

“No Way Up” successfully blends elements of disaster and survival horror, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats with a mix of suspenseful moments and well-timed jump scares. If you’re in the mood for a thrilling cinematic experience, this film is currently playing in theaters. Get ready to be immersed and hold your breath!
